Welcome to the all new Eaton Community Schools website! It is our hope that the new look and functionality will serve as an interactive resource for our visitors.

Eaton Community Schools are on the move.  We have improved our standing on the State of Ohio Report Card for schools, having gained another indicator over the last school year. That equates to a net gain of 6 indicators over the last two years! Because of the strides we are making, our district has been designated as Excellent by the Ohio Department of Education.  We continue to add program offerings, and realizing that our students are our future. Our commitment to them is truly a commitment to the life and growth of our community, a community that values education and believes in its children.

Not only is our district on the move, it is on the build as well. Because educational opportunities are largely reliant upon the facilities in which they are housed, our community committed to the construction of the new Eaton High School and total renovation of Hollingsworth East Elementary, both completed in 2004. These improvements have been invaluable in the educational processes for our students, consistent with ongoing research that shows modern schools are crucial to the delivery of a state-of-the-art educational system. While these buildings are of great benefit to our students, our other two schools, William Bruce Elementary and Eaton Middle School, are showing the wear of their many years of service to our community. Fortunately, our district now has an outstanding opportunity to address the facility needs for students in grades three through eight.

We were notified in April of 2008 by the Ohio School Facilities Commission that the Eaton Community School District is eligible for funding in the amount of approximately 24 million dollars for Phase II of our Facilities Master Plan.  A 1.9 mill bond issue to raise the remaining local share of the funding was narrowly defeated in November and our Board of Education has decided to place the issue back on the ballot this May. The state’s offer of funding is limited and it is unlikely that we will have another opportunity to gain so much for so little. This truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our district and a critical piece of the puzzle for a world class educational system.

Our students and staff are fortunate to have a community that values education and realizes that we all benefit from quality schools.  As a district, we value the feedback we receive from our community and encourage you to contact us with your thoughts, concerns, or questions. Please don’t hesitate to contact me at anytime.

It’s great to be an Eagle!
