East Elementary will have an additional safety measure for the pick up line in the afternoon. EVERY car must have a “pick up card” displayed in their windshield. This card will be provided by the school office after permission has been granted by the parent/legal guardian for “approved” persons to take the child home.
Each family must contact the school in order to request this “pick up card” either by telephone, email or in person. Once the request is made, the office will create the “pick up card” for each family with a designated number. The adult must provide formal identification to the school office personnel when picking up the special made card. The family may request additional “pick up cards” if there are multiple persons that pick up the child. The card must be displayed in the car windshield for the child to be granted permission to get into the car while in the pick up line. If the pick up card is not displayed, the adult will be asked to park the car and go into the main office to sign out the child.
This process is to ensure the safety of each child. It is our goal and duty to be sure that every child gets into the right car with a safe adult. Let’s work together to ensure that every child leaving East every day is safe. Thank you in advance for your support in this new safety measure. We strongly suggest making arrangements to retrieve your "pick up cards" prior to the first day of school to ensure a smooth first day. You can reserve your "pick up cards" by calling the office at 937-456-5173, or by clicking on the link below:
Additionally, we have made some changes to our car rider drop off and pick up procedures. For families who have students at both East and Bruce Elementary, they will need to use the right lane of the drive. Students should exit/enter from the passenger side of the vehicle, and once exiting the car proceed directly to the sidewalk to enter the building.
Families who have students at East Elementary only, they will need to use the left lane of the drive. Students should exit/enter from the driver side of the vehicle, and once exiting proceed directly to the waiting area. A staff member will direct students when to safely cross into the building. See the diagram below for more details. Note, no students will be in the middle section of the drive in order to ensure their safety.
